Puerto de La Cruz is the second largest resort and the oldest resort on the island with about 60,000 people living there. Puerto de La Cruz has the largest parrot park Loro Parque in the world, home to all sorts exotic birds and animals. There are beaches which are mostly black volcanic sand, the main beach at Puerto de La Cruz has small bars and restaurants. Much of the central area of the town is pedestrianised making it easy to walk around town and enjoy the old colonial sights.
If you are visiting Puerto de La Cruz you must visit the Lido Manrique created for the town by Cesar Manrique.
